We are a leading consultancy with the aim of inspiring sustainable business. Our team comprises 30 full and part time employees and associates. Many of our clients are sector leaders on sustainability and supply chain issues and we are proud of our reputation for leading the thinking in this area. In summary, we:

+ Run the award-winning Supply Chain Sustainability School, including the industry-leading Fairness, Inclusion & Respect (FIR) programme.
+ Support clients to use our Sustainability Tool, as well as topic-specific iterations such as the carbon calculator, to report their progress on sustainability actions.
+ Led the authoring of the ISO 20400 in sustainable procurement and are now leading global adoption through our social enterprise arm, and our commercial consultancy services.
+ Provide bespoke, specialist business advice, training, and practical tools to leading organisations such as Siemens, the Houses of Parliament, Warwick University, the NHS and British Land.

The Business Development Consultant Role:

We are looking for a Business Development Consultant to generate opportunities and close deals for two of the business’ three areas: the Supply Chain Sustainability School and the Sustainability Tool.

You will also be required to identify new opportunities across our portfolio of products and have a passion for sustainability and making a difference.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Identify and close sales/project opportunities for the Supply Chain Sustainability School and the Sustainability Tool.
+ Deliver presentations and software product demonstrations to a Director level audience.
+ Work with the marketing team to create sales collateral and build campaigns to generate new leads.
+ Input into the design and development of strategic business development strategies.
+ Keep up to date on the latest sustainability news/products and thinking in the construction sector.
+ Grow your sustainability knowledge and experience through the projects you undertake alongside suitable and relevant training.

About You:

+ Significant commercial consulting sales experience is highly desired with demonstrable personal success in a consultative selling environment – preferably in sustainability services, software or the construction industry.
+ A professional, team/relationship-oriented approach to winning business and developing successful, long-term client relationships and engagements.
+ Active, hands-on approach with clients
+ Able to support colleagues wherever possible to close opportunities as necessary.
+ Proactive approach to cold-calling. Able to devise and follow a strategy to build pipeline through a systematic approach to cold calling.
+ Willingness to learn and develop technical skills and knowledge in line with the broad portfolio of work and a genuine interest and passion for sustainability.
+ Evidence of establishing and maintaining a strong network of clients. A contact base at executive level across relevant construction companies would be highly valued.
+ Travel where necessary to meet with clients, or assist with colleagues clients, face to face.
