We are in the process of developing a digital ‘Workwise’ programme to compliment the wide range of services we offer our residents. One of the key features of our digital programme is an online portal, developed on Microsoft’s Azure platform, to enable residents to self-serve by accessing a range of online services anywhere, anytime.
The Principal Architect Opportunity:
We are looking for an experienced Principle Architect to lead our architecture team. You will be a strategic thinker capable of making intuitive high level decisions to support the development of our enterprise applications which are, where possible, consolidated to the Azure and Microsoft stack. So experience and understanding of Microsoft technologies will be very advantageous. You will embed disciplined architectural approaches for software design and implementation to guide our development teams towards the development of software or systems that will result in stable and innovative digital systems. You will lead a team of up to four architects that have their own specialist areas such as Data, (Cloud) Infrastructure, Business Architecture, Enterprise Architecture etc.
You likely come from a software engineering background, most recently as a technical lead or architect role. You will have a thorough understanding of current approaches to solution design, such as domain driven design and microservices architecture, as well as DevOps process and practice, in a modern, multi-tier architecture.
You must be an acknowledged expert in Microsoft development technologies and Azure. In this role you will be our leading technology expert. You will be identifying opportunities to, trial, implement and successfully adopt technology – both tactically and strategically. You should be seen by senior management as a ‘trusted advisor’, working to help them truly understand the potential offered by the technology stack. To our product teams, you will be seen as a ‘mentor’ and ‘advisor’, as well as overseeing the quality of solutions being delivered by our product teams.
As part of a larger architecture team, the role will also offer you the opportunity to become more expert in developing enterprise-wide target architectures and roadmaps, as well as participating in architecture governance.
+ Integration technologies, including middleware, service oriented architecture and API
+ Cloud in all forms (SaaS, IaaS, PaaS). Able to clearly articulate the end to end Cloud story and value proposition to the end customer, as well as experience in migrating to the Cloud
+ Experience in deploying modern technology development and delivery models, including Agile, continuous integration, continuous delivery, DevOps and bimodal
+ Common third party web services/components (payments, authentication, messaging)
+ Developing/deploying Azure-based microservices including, but not limited, to SOA, ESB, and XML.
+ Microsoft stacks development – C#, .NET, Azure service fabric and Azure components such as Azure Service bus, RESTful web services and Domain Driven Design. Cosmo DB, or similar.
+ Strong team leader with demonstrable experience of developing talent
+ Excellent interpersonal skills with an ability to articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences
