Job Description

We're looking for a hands-on, detail-oriented and enthusiastic Tax Compliance and Reporting Manager to support the Tax team at Monzo, and our wider finance team.

You’ll be joining our Tax Team consisting of our Head of Tax, Senior Tax Manager and VAT Manager, and will be reporting into our Senior Tax Manager. You’ll be our Corporation Tax and Employment Taxes specialist, owning all Corporation Tax and Employment Tax related compliance and reporting, both in the UK and the US.

The role

You’ll own our tax compliance and reporting processes and controls, including:

  • Leading the fulfilment of all of our UK compliance obligations for Corporation Tax and Employment Taxes, including all tax payments and filings
  • Owning our R&D tax credit claim process (with external advisor support)
  • Owning our tax year end reporting processes, including the provision of the tax note for the annual report (with external advisor support)
  • Ensuring we’re fully compliant with our obligations under the Senior Accounting Officer regime
  • Working with external advisors to ensure full compliance with all US tax filings
  • Planning and executing continuous improvement to our Corporation Tax and Employment Tax processes and controls
  • Assisting the business with tax compliance reviews on an adhoc basis (for example, reviewing the tax treatment of existing benefits offered to staff)

You should apply if

  • You’re a qualified accountant and/or qualified tax advisor
  • You have significant experience working in both UK Corporation Tax and Employment Taxes (US tax experience is a bonus, but not a requirement!)
  • You’re comfortable working relatively autonomously
  • You’re energetic and are hands-on with your work, tackling whatever needs doing to make things happen
  • You have an eye for detail and enjoy working methodically through processes
  • What we’re doing at Monzo excites you!

The application process consists of a 30 mins phone call with a recruiter, and 2-3 interviews remotely via hangouts. We promise not to ask you any brain teasers or trick questions.

The salary is competitive plus we offer stock options and other benefits.

We offer flexible working hours and trust you to work enough hours to do your job well, at times that suit you and your team.

Diversity and inclusion is a priority for us – if we want to solve problems for people around the world, our team has to represent our customers. So we need to attract the best talent and create an environment that supports and includes them. You can read more about diversity and inclusion on our blog.

If you prefer to work part-time, we'll make this happen whenever we can - whether this is to help you meet other commitments or strike a great work-life balance.

While the pandemic is still here, everyone at Monzo is welcome to work remotely. When things return to normal, we'd like you to be able to be part of working in a team environment in our London office at least 1 day a week
