Principal Typescript-Node Developer - Hybrid Manchester

Job Title: Principal Typescript/Node.js Developer
Location: Manchester (Hybrid - 1-2 days per week in-office)
Salary: 90,000 - 100,000 (DOE)
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We are a fast-growing SaaS company based in Manchester, developing cutting-edge software products that solve real-world problems at scale. With a strong focus on innovation, reliability, and user experience, we're looking to expand our core engineering team with a highly experienced Principal Typescript/Node.js Developer to lead technical decisions and shape the future of our platform.

As a Principal Developer, you will play a key leadership role in the design, development, and delivery of high-performance SaaS solutions. You'll collaborate closely with engineering, product, and DevOps teams to ensure technical excellence, guide architectural decisions, and mentor fellow developers. This is a hybrid role, with 1-2 days per week required in our Manchester office.

• Lead the architecture, design, and implementation of scalable back-end systems using TypeScript and Node.js

• Champion best practices in code quality, performance, and security

• Work cross-functionally with product, DevOps, and design teams

• Help define and evolve the overall system architecture, contributing to long-term technical strategy

• Mentor and support other developers, providing code reviews and technical guidance

• Take ownership of critical services in a production cloud environment

• Extensive commercial experience with Typescript and Node.js

• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL and relational database design

• Experience with Docker and containerised application development

• Solid understanding of cloud infrastructure, ideally Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • Strong AWS experience will also be considered

• Excellent communication and leadership skills

• Proven ability to design and scale high-performance SaaS applications

• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure as code

• Familiarity with front-end frameworks (React, Next.js, etc.)

• Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems
