Our Job Seekers Guide to Finding Your Perfect Remote-Friendly Role.

Welcome to remotejobs. We’re on a mission to get employers to be more remote-friendly.

Embracing remote working (some or all of the time) not only helps unlock more talent but also can help:

  • Secure in demand talent
  • Increase productivity
  • Create happier employees
  • Improve the financial well-being of employees
  • Reduce staff turnover

remotejobs is the UK’s first dedicated resource exclusively for remote-friendly jobs. Until now searching for a part or fully remote role on generalist job boards hasn't been that effective or an option at all. And those who do have a “Remote” tick box don’t offer any fine-tune filtering. Remote opportunities come in all shapes and sizes and therefore it’s time that remote roles stood apart on their own dedicated channel and with custom search filters allowing you to access more roles and configure the role you want.

At remotejobs we have introduced a number of custom filters that, in conjunction with the standard job search techniques, can open up a whole new world of job and career opportunities.

In this welcome guide we’ll whizz through some quick tips on how to get the most out of remotejobs.

Job Search Filter Tips on remotejobs

Remote Level:

This filter will define the remote-level the employer’s vacancy offers. At remotejobs we appreciate that remote opportunities aren’t one-size fits all and 1 checkbox for “Remote” doesn’t cut it. So we have options covering all bases:

  • 100% Remote (UK Anywhere)
  • Mostly Remote (From 4 Remote Days Per Week / Most of the Month)
  • Part Remote (1-3 Remote Days Per Week)
  • Ad-hoc Remote (From 1 Day Per Month)
  • Field Remote (Remote with client meetings & Base meetings)

Base Location:

Base Location still has an important part to play for some remote-friendly opportunities where you may need to be onsite for some of the week or month. So if your preference is to find Part-Remote work is it likely you will want to search for roles within a commutable distance. Our search tips:

Part Remote: depending on the number of remote days we suggest filtering using a 50 miles radius, but feel free to go further if there are super-fast transport links to the hiring company’s base.

For Ad-hoc Remote roles a 25 mile radius is probably going to be the maximum you’re likely to want to commute for the majority of the week.

Clients offering Mostly Remote are encouraged to place their role in regions where candidates may be willing to commute on an adhoc basis.

We feel Mostly Remote roles are going to be a bit of a game-changer in connecting employers and job seekers that once would have been divided and limited by daily journey times. With this in mind you may wish to push your search radius up to 200 miles.  E.g. If you’re in London, Birmingham or Glasgow we want you to have visibility on relevant roles in say, Leeds, where you are only required to check-in to Base HQ a few days per month. We think this is really exciting in unlocking a world of new roles that until now didn’t come up on your job search radar.

We’d also use the same principle when searching for Field Remote roles.

(We’ll also have a further tip below regarding using Target Regions only).

Target Regions:

This is a supplementary filter to locations where Employers list roles in regions where they’re looking for Field Remote candidates e.g. Field Sales to cover a regional patch.

It may also be used by Employers (predominantly for Mostly Remote) who want to access talent from further afield who might be willing to travel further for adhoc HQ meet-ups.

We hope this helps you find your perfect role.

Happy hunting!
