Software Developer (Java) 6-Month Contract | Remote

Location: Remote (occasional travel to London)
Rate: £400 per day
Contract: 6 months

We are seeking an experienced Software Developer to join a major public sector digital transformation programme, helping deliver secure, scalable and user-focused services that support critical UK operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality software using Java
• Write clean, secure, reusable code using Test Driven Development (TDD)
• Build and maintain integrations using JSON, JSLT and Drools
• Support systems design, integration and prototyping activities
• Ensure services are secure, resilient and performant
• Troubleshoot and resolve production issues
• Contribute to development standards and engineering best practices
• Mentor junior developers and support team growth

Essential Skills

• Strong commercial experience with Java
• Experience with JSON, JSLT and Drools
• Systems Design and Systems Integration experience
• Knowledge of Information Security principles
• Experience supporting live services in production
• Understanding of Availability & Capacity Management
• Strong focus on user-centred digital service delivery
• Experience working in Agile environments
