Job Description

Job Title: Legal Assistant - (Fixed term maternity cover up to the end March 2027)
Hours: 30 hours per week - Part time (to be worked flexibly in line with business needs)
Salary: £21,500 (based on 30 hours per week) per annum (Plus *Casual Car User Mileage Allowance)

Location: Based at Gadbrook Park, Northwich. 

The Trust operates an agile working environment which is a combination of working from our Head Office Gadbrook Business Park, Northwich, and home working.  The requirement to work from the Head Office is based on business need and will involve at least one day per week but this subject to change as well as full working weeks in the office as and when required.

The Opportunity 

Weaver Vale Housing Trust has an exciting opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our Legal and Commercial Services Team. As the first point of contact for customer and colleague queries, you will play a key role in supporting the smooth day‑to‑day operation of the team.

You will assist team members across a range of legal and commercial activities, ensuring the service is delivered efficiently, accurately and with excellent customer care. This role is essential in helping the Trust provide a high‑quality, professional legal service by managing enquiries, coordinating tasks, and delivering reliable administrative support.

What Will You Do?

As Legal Assistant, you will:

  • Be the first point of contact for queries into the Team, from internal and external customers, including managing the Team’s central email inbox and telephone enquiries.  
  • Support the Legal Officer, Home Ownership Officer, Solicitor and Legal Services Manager (the “Team Members”) as and when required in relation to all aspects of work undertaken by the Team. 
  • Complete all administrative tasks at the request of the Team Members, including assigning incoming post and raising and paying invoices.
  • Undertake any other duties or projects as required. 
  • Be responsible for investigating and responding to land ownership and boundary queries. 
  • Provide administrative support for the effective management of the Trust’s portfolio of commercial premises

Minimum Requirements For This Role*

  • x5 Grade GCSE 4-9 / A* - C (Math’s and English) or equivalent level of qualification
  • Experience of providing a high level of accurate administration support
  • Experience of using Microsoft packages to produce letters, spreadsheets, emails

The successful candidate will have strong administration experience, be self‑motivated and well‑organised, with excellent accuracy, communication and interpersonal skills. You must be IT‑literate, able to work flexibly, and capable of managing workloads under pressure while using your initiative to support continuous improvement.

This role will require the successful candidate to undergo a DBS check.
