Private Client Solicitor / Associate, 4-8 PQE, Birmingham, Hybrid Working, National Law Firm

Job Description

Private Client Solicitor / Associate, 4-8 PQE, Birmingham, Hybrid Working, National Law Firm

Are you a Private Client Solicitor looking to move into more complex, high-value work within a nationally recognised team?

This is an opportunity for a Solicitor around 4-8 years' PQE to join the Birmingham Private Client team of a major national law firm, working closely with an experienced Partner and advising high-net-worth clients on complex estates, trusts and tax planning.

The Firm

A large national law firm with an established Birmingham presence and a highly regarded Private Client practice.

The team advises high-net-worth individuals and families on complex wealth, estate and succession planning matters and is recognised by the leading legal directories for the quality of its Private Client work.

For someone coming from a smaller or mid-sized practice, this offers the opportunity to step onto a national platform and gain exposure to more sophisticated matters while still having direct access to senior lawyers within the Birmingham team.

The Role

You'll manage your own Private Client matters while working closely with the Birmingham Partner and other experienced lawyers on more complex work.

Your caseload will include:

  • High-value and complex probate matters
  • Estate and succession planning for high-net-worth clients
  • Lifetime trusts and will trusts
  • Inheritance tax and wider tax planning
  • Wills and related estate planning
  • Advising individuals and families on preserving and passing wealth between generations
  • Developing long-term relationships with clients and professional contacts

You'll have the autonomy expected of an experienced Private Client lawyer while still benefiting from significant Partner contact and the wider expertise and resources of a national practice.

You

You'll be a qualified Solicitor, ideally around 4-8 years' PQE, with a solid grounding in Private Client work.

You'll need experience across areas such as wills, probate, trusts and estate planning, alongside the technical ability to take responsibility for your own matters.

Experience of high-net-worth or more complex estates would be particularly useful.

STEP qualification would be advantageous, but isn't essential. Importantly, the firm is prepared to support and fund STEP qualification for the right person following 12 months with the firm.

You'll also be commercially aware, personable with clients and interested in developing your profile within the Birmingham Private Client market.

Why Consider It?

  • Hybrid working
  • High-value and complex Private Client work
  • Direct contact with an experienced Birmingham Partner
  • National law firm platform and highly regarded Private Client practice
  • Funded STEP qualification for eligible lawyers after 12 months

If you're currently handling good-quality Private Client work but feel ready for greater complexity, stronger HNW exposure and a national platform, could this be the right step?
